Mary Ellen Adickes was born in Silver Creek Township, MN on December 30, 1942 to Clarence and Dorothy (Van Lith) Adickes. She graduated from Buffalo (MN) High School in 1960. After high school, Mary enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington DC. She was proud to have marched in John F. Kennedy’s funeral procession.
While stationed at Andrews AFB, she met Robert Morgan. After their military careers, Mary and Robert were married on a very cold January 22,1966 in Crookston, MN. They moved to Detroit, MI and welcomed a son, Robert Jr, before settling in Thompson, ND.
Mary was always involved in the community, whether it be helping run the elections in Thompson, assisting neighbors, helping out with church lefse and donut productions, and even driving a potato truck for local farmers. She was an avid supporter of Thompson Baseball, raising funds for field improvements and championship baseball trips. She never missed a game.
Mary enjoyed caring for and spending time with her granddaughters. She loved having her “little peanuts” live down the street so they could visit often. She liked watching Jeopardy, completing puzzles, and was always up for a game of cards. She was very proud to be able to hold her great grandson.
She is survived by her husband Robert of almost 57 years; son Robert (Roxy) Morgan; grandchildren Katie (Matthew) Hillestad, and Kacey (Alex) Hylen; great grandson Micah Hillestad; siblings Marlene (Burt) Ramthun, Alan (Carol) Adickes, Marla Maynard, Myra (Will) Decker, Monna Rae Adickes, and Madonna (Dan Rasset) Adickes; brothers-in-law Jim Epple, Richard (Joyce) Morgan, David (Sandy) Morgan, and Donald (Lori) Morgan; sisters-in-law Ilene Yanish, Judie (Gary) Cater, Lois (Doyle) Heden, Rita Stevens, and Renay (Ron) Berry; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law Irene Morgan; siblings Margie Olson, Casey Adickes, Raymond Adickes, and Marcia Epple; brothers-in-law Ed Yanish, Mark Stevens, Neil Maynard, and Cliff Winn; and sister-in-law Arlene Winn.
