Larry K. Johnson 85, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Larry Keith Johnson was born March 13, 1936 in Grand Forks, the son of Alfred and Edna (Rustan) Johnson. He was raised in Langdon, ND where he attended schools and graduated from Langdon High School in 1954. Larry served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he returned to Langdon to work on the family farm. He later graduated from trade college in carpentry, where he started his career by working in the construction field for his uncle in Park River, ND. Larry later moved to Grand Forks where he worked as a construction foreman for Fritz Building Co and became a partner in the Gallery Apartments in Grand Forks.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family lake home on Movil Lake near Bemidji, MN. He loved curling and was still enjoying the sport until the time of his passing. Larry and Jean were also able to enjoy 13 years in the winter months in the warmth of Arizona.
Larry married Jean Veralrud on October 11, 1958 in Park River, ND. She survives along with their sons, Todd (Irene) Johnson, Fargo, ND, Robbie (Yanci) Johnson, Grand Forks and Darin (Kim) Johnson, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Dylan Johnson, Kayla (Alex) Osborn, Hunter Johnson, Cassidy Johnson, Austin Johnson and Colt (Kellie) Johnson; a great grandchild, Elodie Osborn; siblings, Lindy (Helen) Johnson, Langdon, ND, Orin (Ardell) Johnson, Aberdeen, SD; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Johnson, East Moline, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Edna Johnson; and his brother, Kenny Johnson.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Augustana Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3817 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
A celebration of life and luncheon will immediately follow the ceremony at the Grand Forks Curling Club.
