Karen McLaren, 63, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 in Federal Way, WA.
Karen was born June 6, 1957 at St. Michael's hospital in Grand Forks, ND. She grew up in Grand Forks, went to school at Belmont, Lincoln, South Jr. and graduated from Central High. Later she went to school for working in the travel industry. This got her employment in Seattle at Horizon airlines where she worked for over 25 years.
She took an early retirement to stay home as a care giver to her husband who was diagnosed with early on set Alzheimer’s. She was involved with that until he passed around four years later. A funny yet bittersweet moment from when he was deeper in his Alzheimer’s is when he no longer really knew who Karen was he one time told his daughter, “I want to get out of here and go home. That little gal sure is bossy.” He was home, but in those dire situations you take comic relief where you can find it. Karen was much smaller than Lynn. She was all business when she needed to get things done so I’m sure getting things done actually did come across as “Bossy” sometimes.
Karen Married Lynn McLaren in 1974. They had one child, Christy McLaren. She is survived by Christy (Jeffrey) McLaren Dean; grandchildren, Gracie Dean, Savannah Dean, Colton Dean, Ashely Dean and Tyler Dean; great grandchild, Nolan Grey Edwards and a brother, Mike Hennessy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn McLaren; and parents, Avis and Jack Mullin.
