JONAH WAYNE BORTH

Jonah W. Borth, 15, Grand Forks, ND, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 26, 2020, in Northwood, ND.

Jonah Wayne Borth was born June 24, 2004, in Grand Forks, the son of Perry Borth and Laurie (Anderson) Blackberg. He attended Ben Franklin Elementary School, South Middle School, and was currently a student at Red River High School in Grand Forks.

Jonah always had a smile and a joyful nature. He loved his family and was a loyal friend. He had a love of music and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice.  He was a member of the RRHS Choir and the Grand Cities Children’s Choir. He was a member of Chamber Choir.  He was a member of the ACDA Honor Choir.  He was also active in the RRHS Orchestra and SPA theater program. He had a strong faith and loved to serve at his church. He spent his days riding bike, playing frisbee golf and sharing a pun or two whenever possible.

Survivors include mother, Laurie Blackberg, (father) Mikael Blackberg, Grand Forks; his father, Perry Borth, Grand Forks.  Siblings, Zane (Laura) Blackberg, Grand Forks; Grace Blackberg, Seattle, WA Moriah Blackberg, Bethany Blackberg, all of Grand Forks; grandparents, Ray and Judy LeClerc, Grand Forks, grandparents Lyle and Merice Blackberg, Florida. Uncles, Scott (Jayne) Anderson, Ed Borth, Jason Borth.  Monty Blackberg, Mark Blackberg, and Aunts, Lynette (Curt) Thelen and Susan (Blake) Boulduc.  Several cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne Anderson and Ray and Cheryl Borth; and by an uncle, Michael Borth.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 31, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND. Arrangements are with Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks.
