Duane Gage

November 7, 1930 — October 20, 2022

Duane Gage completed his mission on Earth on October 20, 2022 in Fargo ND at the age of 91. He lived a long and full life and will be remembered by his family and friends for his mechanical and problem- solving skills as well as his witty humor. He always found a way to fix broken things using whatever he could find lying around his shop. His many silly sayings and antics have provided us with abundant, cherished memories.

Duane was born on November 7, 1930 near Calvin, ND to Claude and Lena (Whitmore) Gage. He grew up on the family farm near Calvin. He served his country overseas in the US Army from 1955-1957.  He was united in marriage to Patricia “Toni” (Piatz) Gage on April 16, 1961 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After living in Renton, Washington for a short time while he worked for Boeing Manufacturing, Duane and Toni returned to the family farm near Calvin. Farming then became his passion and he worked the land until his retirement in 1997.

Following retirement Duane and Toni moved to Grand Forks, ND to be near their grandchildren. He faithfully attended their many activities and enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren grow into outstanding, young adults. He was always amazed and proud of their accomplishments and was not afraid to tell people about it.

Duane is survived by his two daughters: Penni (Keith) Weston of Fargo and Peggi (Tony) Aymond of Grand Forks; six grandchildren: Amanda (Adam) Weston -Caillier of Alverado, MN, Andrew (Brenna) Weston of Osceola, WI, Sarah Aymond of South Bend IN, Matthew Aymond of Bemidji, MN, Joseph Aymond of Rochester, MN, and Abby Aymond of Brookline, MA; three great grandchildren and one brother Warren Gage.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; wife Toni; sisters: Lois, Norma, Joyce, and Betty; and brother Eugene.

Out of respect for Duane’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation services. Following cremation, he will be buried alongside his wife at Calvary South Cemetery in Grand Forks.

A celebration of Duane’s life is being planned for a later date to gather and share memories. Please watch Facebook for details.
