Beulah Staveteig

d. August 4, 2020

In loving memory...

Beulah Joyce Staveteig – beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was embraced in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 4, 2020, at the age of 88.

Beulah was born to Joseph and Bella Sanden on Sept. 20, 1931 in Mekinock, North Dakota. She was one of four children. She graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks.

She married Lloyd Ordean Staveteig on June 4, 1950 at West Walle Church. Together, they celebrated 70 years of marriage in June of this year. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters – all of whom married. Bette and Dennis Salter, Appleton, Wisconsin; Lois and Bob Stroh, Erhard, Minnesota; Debbie and Gary Hagen, Mayville, North Dakota; and Sharon and Del Mattson, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, followed by 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Beulah devoted herself first and foremost to our Lord. She prayed and helped out at the church. She and Lloyd were charter members of Calvary Lutheran Church, active in attending services and supporting missionary projects. She volunteered extensively with the Altar Guild, was a Circle Member and wedding committee coordinator. She was also an active volunteer with Tufte Manorettes, where she helped with ice cream socials, quilt raffles and visited with her mom and others at Tufte Manor. At the United Hospital intensive care visiting room, Beulah would share her hospitality as a volunteer. Beulah loved Jesus, and shared His love with those around her.

Beulah was talented in many of her hobbies – but her most cherished hobby was sewing. She spent many wonderful hours at her Singer sewing machine. Her daughters remember her making dresses for them on special occasions. Her grandchildren remember the mittens she’d knit for them at Christmas time and the quilts she’d gift as wedding presents. She sewed countless quilts, which were cherished by her recipients. She loved quilting so much that she continued to quilt at Alamo Palms when she and Lloyd would winter in Texas. She liked to cross-stitch framed pictures of Precious Moments characters, Christmas ornaments and baby blankets.

She was also an avid square dancer and ceramic maker. She and Lloyd were members of the Skirts and Shirts square dance club for 32 years. She also painted many ceramics – many of which come out at Christmas times in the homes of those she loved.

Beulah is survived by four daughters and their spouses; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lorraine Amundson, Deloris Sanden Landerville and Betty Staveteig; and brother-in-law Robert Staveteig and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lloyd; siblings Gen Amiot, Tannis Sanden, Robert Sanden; and granddaughter, Frances Mattson.

Blessed be the memory of Beulah Staveteig.
