Wayne Rowe

Maurice Wayne Rowe, age 96, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2019.  He was born September 3, 1922 in Cavalier, ND to John and Edna Rowe.  He married Dorothy Elaine Strandberg on August 17, 1947 in Fargo, ND. 

Wayne was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from October 1942 to April 1946, including combat operations during the Battle of the Bulge.  Following his years of service, he graduated from NDSU and began his professional career as a Vocational Agriculture teacher.  From 1954 until 1979, he and Dorothy owned and operated Coast to Coast hardware stores in Ashley and Grand Forks.  Subsequently, he was named 1983 Realtor of the Year during his six years selling real estate in Grand Forks.

For more than ten years of their retirement, Wayne and Dorothy selflessly volunteered as much as six months at a time to the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program.  They constructed, expanded and renovated mission churches, bible camps and orphanages in needed areas.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy, and four children Keith (Pam) Rowe, Brandon, MN; Sandra (Dennis) Meagher, Lincoln, NE; Steven (Connie) Rowe, Grand Forks, ND and Linda (Jack) Hammen, Grand Forks, ND; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two of his four brothers, Neil of Grand Forks and John of Oxen Hill, MD.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 25^th at 10:30 AM at the Zion United Methodist Church in Grand Forks.  Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.  A graveside service with military honors will follow at Memorial Park South Cemetery.
