Vivianne Dahlen

Vivianne Dahlen, 95, Grand Forks, died Thursday, August 8, 2024 in Valley Senior Living on 42nd St. 

Vivianne Beryl LeMay, was born November 18,1928, in Redfield, SD, to Orville and Daisy (Anderson) LeMay. She grew up in SD before moving to Jamestown, ND in her teens. She attended Jamestown College before transferring to the University of ND, where she met the love of her life Elbert "Olie" Dahlen. They married August 8, 1948.

Viv and Olie made their home in Grand Forks, ND, later wintering for many years in Mesa, AZ. Vivianne was an avid bridge player, an active member of PEO and Homemakers Club, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and helped with the election polls. She loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. Her favorite activity was being with Olie and traveling the world. They visited Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Greece, Morocco, Australia and too many others to mention.

In addition to her activities, Vivianne raised four children, making sure they were safe, educated, and had great values and morals.

Vivianne and Olie were married for 71 years before his passing in 2020. She reunited with him on what would have been their 76th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her children Kay Lynn (Larry) Cummins, Bisbee, AZ; Rick (Cindy), Kirkland, WA; Deb (Paul) Jorgenson, Apple Valley, MN; and Barb Tharaldson, Manvel, ND; grandchildren Lily and Joey (Dana) Cummins, Aaron Dahlen, Lindsey Jorgenson, Mike (Lindsey Singer) Jorgenson, Kristen (Arran) Madden, Lisa (Kendall) Wade, Ty and Alex Jorgenson, Nick (Marcy) and Katie Tharaldson; great-grandchildren Melanie, Kennedy, Raegen, KJ, William, Ruby, Phoenix, James, Isla, Jett and Henry; sisters-in-law Jan LeMay and Lorraine Nygaard, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Zachary, brothers Keith and Jim, and numerous brother and sister-in-laws.

The family would like to thank all the caring staff at Valley Senior Living who cared for her these past four years.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 7th at 2pm at the Havig-Heen Auditorium Chapel of Valley Senior Living on 42nd, with visitation one hour prior to the ceremony.
