Vernon D. Everson, age 84, of Grand Forks, N.D., passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, N.D. with his family by his side.
Vernon Dale Everson was born on April 14, 1934, in Greenbush, MN, the son of the late Elmer and Alma (Haughtvedt) Everson. Vernon attended grades 1-6 at Greenbush, MN and then moved to Thief River Falls, MN and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951. Vernon worked on his parents farm in the summertime and would work in Grand Forks in the fall and winter months. Vernon enlisted in the US Army in 1957 and returned to his family farm in 1958. Vernon worked at Lockwood Graders for 3 years, followed by working at Simonson Lumber as warehouse foreman from 1963 until he retired in 1999 after 36 years of service. Vernon married Shirley (Rud) on May 12, 1962. They have two daughters, Lori and Pam.
Vernon enjoyed doing woodworking, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Vernon enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Rud) Everson, Grand Forks; two daughters, Lori (Tim) Chenevert, Aitkin, MN, and Pam (Sid) Mokerski, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Katie Albright, Lindsey Bennett; great-grandchildren, Zeddicus, Illianna, Aiden, Jerimiah, Finnick, Lincoln; and a sister, Mercedes Gust, New Hope, MN. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alma Everson; sisters, Doris Efteland, Adeline Halvorson; a brother, Milo Everson.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery, Greenbush, MN in the spring.
