Timothy "Tim" Sattler

December 19, 1965 — April 28, 2019

Timothy George Sattler, love-you-with-my-whole-heart husband, proud father, devoted son, animated brother, worlds best uncle, fun friend, inspiring coach, determined salesman, Chris Farley copy cat, hilarious story teller, got-your-back-teammate, friendly neighbor, big-hearted man … left an enormous hole in the heart of so many people when he joined his Heavenly Father on April 28, 2019.

Tim was born to George and Marion Sattler on December 19, 1965, in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  He attended school in Grand Forks, graduating from Red River High School in 1984.  Although he loved many sports, he excelled in football in high school and earned a spot on the UND football team in college.

After graduating from UND with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations in 1989, Tim began a lengthy career in sales.  He sold financial portfolios at Paine Webber, TVs and appliances for Maury’s and heavy construction machinery at RDO Equipment for 20 years, where countless customers became good friends.  In 2016, he embraced a new challenge as Vice President of Commercial Leasing for Choice Bank. His desire to live life to the fullest lead him from weightlifting competitions to snow mobiles to race cars.

Tim fulfilled a dream by racing late models at the Grand Forks Speedway and other Midwest locations for several years. His most cherished and challenging adventure was marrying Sherre Kaelberer Sattler in 1995. Their two sons Gunnar and Garrin soon became the focus of his passion. He gleamed in their successes, was heartbroken by their challenges and thrived on spending time with them. Tim’s sons and his love for sports and--more importantly--the lessons they teach, enticed him to coach youth hockey and football for years. His greatest joy came from helping the underdog find his place and passion on a team, which usually started with a nickname. We will miss Tim’s big hugs, cheerful greetings, wise mentorship, warm handshake, blunt opinions and positive influence on so many young people.

He is survived by wife Sherre; children Gunnar and Garrin; parents George and Marion Sattler; brothers Randy (Wini) and Terry; sisters Debbi (Dana) Hillebrand and Kim (Al) Hager; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant sister; mother-in-law Carol Kaelberer and grandparents.

The arrangements for Tim’s celebration of life are:  Visitation from 6:00-7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. Visitation continues from 9:00-10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to "Tim Sattler Memorial Fund," care of the GF Foundation for Education, PO Box 5475, Grand Forks, ND 58201.
