Tim, science enthusiast, loving partner, doting parent, and total nerd, passed away while doing what he loved, hunting for fossils.
Timothy Douglas Hochstetler Dillon was born July 19, 1991, to Lauretta (Sangster) and Timothy Dillon. Their miracle ECMO baby, Timmy, was a compassionate, happy, friendly child always eager to help others. His singing voice was a gift which he shared regularly in his life. His faith was rooted in love and service before self. Timmy loved his two sisters, Sara and Julie, tremendously.
Tim graduated from Stafford High School in 2009. He earned the prestigious BSA Eagle Scout rank along the way. While in high school, Tim participated in Band, Madrigals, Drama Club and Track and Field.
Nature was a grounding and safe space for Tim. During summers and after college, his work for the Student Conservation Association further fueled his love of trees, dirt, rocks, and wheat. Despite his tendency to sunburn, being in nature was always Tim’s preference. Tim earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho in Natural Resources/Conservation and a master’s degree from the University of North Dakota in Earth Systems Science. While at the University of Idaho Tim joined the ROTC program as an Idaho Army National Guard Soldier. Much to his dismay, he was medically discharged two years later.
Tim met the love of his life, Tiffany, in 2015 and they were married in 2017. “Honey and Babe” shared a love that was beautiful, albeit obnoxious. In 2020, Tiff and Tim started a whole new adventure welcoming into their family their first foster daughter. Over the next four years, three more foster girls were brought into their lives and hearts. Their first biological munchkin, Juniper, was born in June of 2021. In April 2023, Tiffany and Tim announced with joy news of a second biological daughter due in October. Tim loved all of his girls with all of his might.
Tim worked as a middle school science teacher in Grafton, ND, and loved spending hours preparing lesson plans, gathering bones and rocks, and purchasing classroom essentials such as the class lizard: Admiral Cornelius Bingle Bottom the Fourth.
Tim was a person filled to the brim with genuine love, vast knowledge, and lengthy monologues. Tim left us far too soon and his kind heart, endless rock facts, and old soul will be fiercely missed.
Tim was preceded in death by his grandparents Col. Francis Dillon of Great Falls, VA and Douglas and Elizabeth Sangster of Essex, CT.
Tim is survived by his wife Tiffany, daughters Juniper and the Still-Growing-Little-One Hochstetler Dillon, God-daughter Braelyn of Grand Forks, ND, parents Timothy and Lauretta (Sangster) Dillon of Stafford Springs, CT, sister Sara Dillon and partner James Bunts of Seattle, WA, sister Julie (Dillon) and Jeffrey Johnston, and niece Madelyn Johnston of Ewa Beach, HI, and grandmother, Martha Dillon of Great Falls, VA.
