Tim Oster, 63, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, formerly of Mandan, died on Sunday, March 26, 2023, following a short, courageous battle with cancer.
Tim was born on December 20, 1959, to Harold and Avis (Helgeson) Oster in McLaughlin, South Dakota. At a young age, Tim and his family moved to Mandan, North Dakota where he was raised and received his education.
Tim was raised in a very tight knit family as 1 of 8 children. He loved horses and shared that passion with his brothers.
On June 22, 1979, Tim was united in marriage to Arlene Leingang in Mandan. The couple began their family in Mandan, where they raised their 2 daughters, Amy, and Hope. While in Mandan, Tim worked for Advanced Truss Fabricators for 38 years. He started his career in the shop as a laborer moving into the shop foreman position. After a few years, he then advanced to General Manager of the company. Tim retired in 2016 to move to Grand Forks with his wife to be closer to their family.
Tim enjoyed fishing and camping at the family lake spot in Devils Lake. He also enjoyed numerous family vacations over the years. He especially loved his time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife, Arlene; daughters, Hope (Nick) Dumas and their children, Camden and Halle, and Amy (James) Covington and their children, Aliviana and Everly; sisters, Wanda (Larry) House of Mandan, Tina Reichenberg of Mandan, Althea Oster Hudson of Dickinson; and 2 special friends Tim considered brothers, James Sargent of Rapid City, SD, and Jim Messer of Mandan; and numerous other extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Harold and Avis; brothers, Ron and Duane Oster; sisters, Sherry Oster and Linda Friesz; and a nephew, Monte Heck.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks, North Dakota. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior. Interment will be held at Memorial Park North Cemetery, in Grand Forks.
