Thomas A. Carson, age 94, of Grand Forks, died Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Valley Senior Living on Columbia, Grand Forks.

Thomas Arlan Carson, 94, was born Sept. 7, 1930 in Buxton, ND, the son of Thomas and Myrtle Carson. He passed away Friday, October 25, surrounded by people who loved him.

Tom graduated from Buxton High School in 1948 and farmed the family heritage farm until his retirement in 1991. He had many friends and fishing buddies and could often be found at the Buxton cafe enjoying their company. He also enjoyed attending UND and other sports events, especially ice hockey.

He moved to Grand Forks in April 2018 and settled in at Valley Senior Living - Wheatland Terrace. Tom never married or had children of his own but was adored by his nieces and nephews and thought of as a grandpa and great-grandpa by the younger kids in the family as well as many of the children who participated in the Head Start program at Wheatland Terrace. We have been blessed beyond measure for having known and loved him. He was truly a gentleman and a gentle man.

Tom is survived by cousins Richard Anderson of Fargo and David Anderson (Siriwan) of Leesburg, VA, nieces and nephews Mary Ziegler (Richard) of Fairfield Glade, TN, Kathleen Heim (Randy) of Anthem, AZ, Susan Schumacher (Warren) of Happy Valley, OR, Theresa Finck (John) of Mandan, ND, Greg Hoistad (Sheri) of Lakeville, MN, Peter Hoistad (Melanie) of Grand Forks, and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Dorothy Hoistad and Betty Samuelson.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Havig-Heen Auditorium at the Valley Senior Living on 42nd, 4000 24th Ave So., Grand Forks with Pastor Bud Johnson officiating.
