Thelma E Anderson

Thelma E. Anderson, 87, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.  Thelma was born on November 14, 1931 to Theodore & Alice (Schedin) Sollom in Bagley, MN.  The family later moved to Grand Forks, ND and Thelma graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1948.  She went to work for H. H. Herberger in 1949 and met her future husband, Richard Anderson that same year after being introduced by Richard’s mother, Mabel.  Richard and Thelma were married in Grand Forks on February 15, 1950.

Richard and Thelma farmed near Orr, ND until retiring in 1986.  They continued living on the farm through retirement and Thelma sold the farmstead in 2007.  She moved to Fargo to be near her immediate family and later to Rapid City when they moved there.

Richard and Thelma had three sons, Michael, Steven, and Von.  Thelma was the mother of three children, however she subbed as a mother for many others and her legacy as a mentor and a great listener will never be forgotten.  She was a very talented artist and loved to play the piano.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, two sons, Von Anderson and Steven (Carol) Anderson, parents, Theodore and Alice Sollom, father and mother in law, Lyle and Mabel Anderson, three sisters, Carol (Ken) Burseth, Jan Kirsten, and Joan Coulter, two brothers, Teddy Sollom and Charles (Romaine) Butterfield, brother in laws, Gaylord (Bud) Anderson and Dennis Wood, a sister in law, Delores (Helmer) Johnson and a niece, Janelle (Randy) Eken.

She is survived by a son, Michael (Marella) Anderson, two sister in laws, Aurel Wood and Betty Anderson, four grandchildren, Angela Anderson, Bryce (Kathy) Winjum, Lee (April) Anderson, and Victoria (Chris) Endres, nieces, Nan (Ray) Pilmonas, Gayle (Gary) Woods, Jennifer Kirsten, Joan (Greg) McMahon, Kathryn (Brian) Aubol, Jamie (Jim) Claque, Jennifer (Dwight) Lund, nephews, Dan (Debby) Anderson, Jeff (Sheryl) Wood and David Wood and other relatives and great grandchildren too numerous to mention.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Amundson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service.
