Thelanore "Teddy" Mantos

November 15, 1927 — December 26, 2018

Thelanore “Teddy” Crystal Mantos, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away at Valley Elder Care, December 26, 2018 at the age of 91.

Teddy was born November 15, 1927, to Carl “Benny” and Bella (Sannes) Berg of Reynolds, ND. She attended school in Reynolds and graduated from Reynolds High School in 1945.

Teddy and Melvin O. Jorgenson were married on January 7, 1947, in Everett, WA. They made their home in Grand Forks and had five children. Melvin passed away in 1988.

Teddy and James Mantos married in 1980. They lived, danced, and traveled together until his death in 1994.

Teddy continued to live in Grand Forks and worked for several businesses throughout her years. Wilkerson Hall at UND and Days Inn in Grand Forks were among her favorites.

Teddy loved spending her summers at the lake. Early on at Maple Lake with Melvin when their children were growing up, and later, her and Jim loved their summers at Lake Andrusia. They loved fishing day and night, entertaining friends, and especially loved when grandkids would come to stay. She loved cooking for holidays, singing with her sisters, and visiting with friends and family.

Teddy has unselfishly given her body to the UND School of Medicine in Grand Forks. That way she will be the teacher she always wanted to be.

Teddy is survived by her daughters,  Schela (Larry) Gander of Portland, ND, and Sue Prowse of Grand Forks, ND;  sister Eunice (Eric) Dietrick of Cavalier, ND;  sister-in-law Gladys Berg of Grand Forks, ND;  many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  her sons James and Ronald Jorgenson;  two husbands;  sisters Berdell (Roy) Davidson and Frances (David) Ritchie;  and brother Milton Berg.

A private service will be held for family and friends at a later date. Her final resting place will be at Memorial Park South Cemetery in Grand Forks.  Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks is in charge of arrangements.  www.amundsonfuneralhome.com.
