Terry James Jenson Sr., 73, Grand Forks, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at his home.
Terry was born on September 26, 1945, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the son of Henry and Helen (Reibe) Jenson. He grew up attending school in Dilworth, MN.
He served in the US Army where he was honorably discharged in 1967. On December 22, 1965, Terry married Ruth Lunski in Grand Forks. He also worked at Grand Forks Grocery as a sale rep for a time. Terry was a chef. He owned several restaurants such as: Gordy’s Café, Dakota Hotel and Café, Highway Host, Ponderosa, and Gramma Butterwick’s.
He enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, hunting, and cooking. Terry liked to drive horse and buggy, working on old cars and spending time fishing with his grandchildren or supporting them in their rodeo adventures.
Terry is survived by his wife, Ruth; children: Terry (Faith) Jenson Jr.; Lisa (Jon) Krigbaum; grandchildren: Emilly Jenson, Zachery Dusterhoft, Jeremy Dusterhoft, Lyndsey Dusterhoft; siblings: Dave Jenson, Roger Jenson, Lois Merkel, Becky Jacobi, Barb Bakken, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Kurt Merkel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 1 p.m. until the start of the service at the church.
