It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terrance Jerome Vorachek, lovingly known as “Terry,” on November 7, 2024. Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Terry was a lifelong scholar and adventurer, known for his boundless curiosity and dedication to enriching lives across the globe.
Terry’s academic journey began at North Dakota State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to complete a Master of Science at Colorado State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. His passion for education led him to a distinguished career as a professor of Animal Science at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, where he inspired countless students and colleagues.
Following his tenure as a professor, Terry embarked on a new journey that took him around the world. His expertise and leadership brought him to the U.S. Grain Council, where he served as the Director of the Middle East Division, a role that allowed him to build connections and foster understanding across borders.
Terry found joy in life’s simple pleasures: gardening, cooking, traveling, and horseback riding. His warm presence, sense of adventure, and thoughtful conversation will be missed by all who knew him.
Terry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Wilmer and Edna Vorachek. He is survived by his loving wife, Xiaohui; his brothers, Doug and Curt Vorachek; and his children, Aaron Vorachek, Banafsheh Ratterree, and QQ Wang.
In lieu of flowers and funeral contributions the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Terry’s memory.
