Teresa A. Newland

Teresa A. Newland, 51, Grand Forks, ND, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 20, 2022 at home.

Teresa Ann Helle was born April 28, 1971 in Grand Forks, the daughter of Thomas and Georgann (Johnson) Helle. She was raised and educated in Grand Forks. She graduated from Central High School in 1989. She continued her education at Aaker’s Business College, and later at the University of Mary. Teresa was employed at Ecolab in Grand Forks from 1999 to 2013.  In 2014, she began working for Alerus Financial where she was presently the Accounting Operations Manager.

Teresa loved being at Cass Lake, MN, camping, boating and socializing. She also enjoyed working out at Orangetheory Fitness. Teresa was also an avid UND football and hockey fan.

Teresa married Bobby Newland on October 13, 1990 at United Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. He survives along with; daughter, Jamie (Fiancé, Tylor); grandson, Oliver and granddaughter Hartlyn; her parents, Tom and Georgann Helle; Sister Kristin Helle; nephews, Darius, Kenny and James; mother-in-law, Leona Newland; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Teresa is preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Elaine Johnson and Thomas and Marie Hughes; aunt, Carol Straabe; father-in-law, Glenn Newland.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for an hour before the service in the church, with a luncheon following the service.
