Sylvia Jean Mosher, 91, of Fisher, Minnesota passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Saturday, December 30, 2023, with her loving family by her side.

Sylvia was born on June 28, 1932, the daughter of Soren and Josephine (Salverson) Sorenson in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was raised in rural East Grand Forks, Minnesota and attended country school in rural Bygland Township. Sylvia graduated from East Grand Forks High School and, later in life, attended UND earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts.

Sylvia married Walter Mosher on May 5, 1956, in Fisher, Minnesota and moved to Southern California working in various roles in healthcare and with her husband’s small business. She later moved back to Fisher to raise her daughter Gail. Sylvia worked at the DMV in Crookston, Minnesota for over twenty years. She was an active member of River Heights Lutheran Church.

Sylvia was a feisty and creative soul who loved painting watercolors, sewing, and writing. She enjoyed time with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, particularly when cooking or dining out was involved. Sylvia excelled at creating custom blankets for her family, friends, new babies, and even pets. She was so proud of each blanket that she kept photos of each recipient enjoying their cozy gift.

Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Gail (Mike) Kasowski of Fisher, MN; four grandchildren, Nick (Cassie) Kasowski of Oxbow, ND, Gina Kasowski of San Francisco, CA, Katelyn Kasowski of Chandler, AZ and Tenniel (Corey) Winger of Crookston, MN; five great-grandchildren, Hudson, Reece, and Brody Kasowski, Brooke and Addison Winger; brothers, Dale (Janet) Sorenson of Fisher, MN and Clark (Doris) Sorenson of Victoria, MN, sister-in-law Jeanette Sorenson of Crookston, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Oliver (Joyce), Ordean (Irene), Roger (Janet) and Wayne Sorenson and sister, Carol June Sorenson.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at River Heights Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, Minnesota.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at River Heights Lutheran Church with Reverend Noah Thompson, officiating.
