Sylvia Anne (Parker) Fowler, 89, died on March 22, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Sylvia was born March 9, 1933, to William & Esther Parker who farmed near the now extinct village of Ojata where Sylvia and her sister Elinor attended a one-room country school, Oakville 32.
As a child Sylvia enjoyed riding her pony, Nickle and helping her father caring for livestock and putting up hay. She was an adept horsewoman as a rider and driver. She worked in the hayfield managing and driving a team of horses pulling a hay rake when she was ten years old or younger.
Sylvia met her future husband, Edward Fowler when they both worked at the National Tea Grocery Store in Grand Forks. They were married at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks on September 2, 1956.
When Edward accepted an engineering position in Rockford, IL, Sylvia chose a retail position managing a jewelry store department. Later she returned to her horse love and chose a harness maker tack shop where she counseled and sold horse equipment. Occasionally she was asked to model equestrian clothing.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Dr. William (Cyndi) Fowler of Whitewater, WI; grandson, Blake Fowler of Milwaukee, WI; sister, Elinor Olson of Grand Forks; cousins, Mark (Sandy) Nisbet of Fisher, MN and Nancy (Jerry) Parten of Waderly, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; parents; grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private family service burial is tentatively planned for June 4, 2022 at the family's homestead farm near Emerado, ND.
