Suzanne R. Nelson

Suzanne R. Nelson, age 86, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Valley Senior Living on 42^nd.   A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Suzanne was born on April 2, 1935 in Mentor, MN to Rodger and Evelyn (Svenby) Larson.  Her early years were spent in Mentor, before moving with her family to East Grand Forks, MN, where she later graduated high school.  Following high school, Suzanne attended nursing school at Deaconess Hospital where she earned a Registered Nursing Degree.  On September 3^rd, 1955, she married the love of her life, Robert Nelson.  The couple enjoyed 63 years of marriage before Robert’s passing in 2018.  With Robert being active in the military, the couple and their family traveled and lived in numerous locations throughout the world.  Following Robert’s retirement in 1991, the couple moved to Yakima, WA where they built a new home.  In 1995, they moved back to Grand Forks to be closer to family.  Suzanne enjoyed spending time with her family and had a strong passion for the many dachshund’s they had over the years.  She enjoyed cooking, camping, gardening, flowers and loved to entertain.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her parents, Rodger and Evelyn (Svenby) Larson, and a brother Duaine Svenby.  She is survived by her sons, Brad Nelson of Juneau, AK, and Tim (Melanie) Nelson of Harvey, ND; grandsons Adam Nelson of Juneau, AK, Jesse Nelson of Seattle, WA, Tony (Jessica) Nelson of Cottage Grove, MN, and Jeremy Nelson of Harvey, ND; 7 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
