Steven Berry, Sr.

Steven  Berry, Sr., 68, Grand Forks, ND, died at home on Sunday, April 14, 2019.   Steven James Berry, the son of James and Vivian (Pierce) Berry, was born in Ogdensburg, New York on April 10, 1951.  Steven attended Madrid Waddington Central High School.  He entered the US Air Force in January, 1971.  Steven Berry and Connie Twite were united in marriage on September 10, 1971 at Lancaster, CA.  They lived at Edwards AFB, CA. Steven served a tour in Vietnam and then returned to Edwards, AFB, later serving at Plattsburg, NY, Yokota, AFB, Japan, Hanscom AFB, MA, and Rhein-Main AFB in Germany before coming to Grand Forks AFB in June 1985.  They also lived in Emerado, ND prior to moving to Grand Forks.  Steven retired from military service in September 1991 after more than 20 years of service.   He was later employed for many years in environmental services at Altru Hospital.    Steven enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and hockey.   He coached baseball in Germany and youth bowling in Germany and N.D.  He also assisted with Special Olympic Bowling.   Steven is survived by his wife, Connie, Grand Forks;  a son, Steven, Jr. (Karla Kovar), Grand Forks;  a daughter, Holly (Scott) Thoms, Cibolo, TX; grandchildren, Brandon, Jackie, Cayden, Maison, Daniel, Kristopher, Bret, Cameron, Jaxson, and Thomas; two brothers, Daniel (Darlene) Berry, Waddington, NY, and William Berry;  brother-in-law, Jack (Kathy); sister-in-law, Cindy (Gordon); many nieces and nephews;  He was preceded in death by a brother, Dickie;  a sister, Susie;  sisters-in-law, Susan and Linda Berry; his mother and father, Vivian and James Berry; his mother and father-in-law, Marilyn and Jack Twite.    Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Minot, North Dakota.
