Steve Field

July 23, 1953 — November 30, 2022

Due to the weather and holidays, Steve's Celebration of Life will be postponed until the spring. Steven Randall Field, 69, of Grand Forks passed away at Woodside Village in Grand Forks on November 30, 2022. Steve was born in Grand Forks, ND, July 23, 1953, to Curtis and Lois (McKenzie) Field. He attended school at Ben Franklin, South Jr. High, and graduated from Red River High School in 1971. Steve, in his early days delivered the Grand Forks Herald and drove a popsicle cart selling ice cream treats. After high school, he attended North Dakota State School of Science and then worked as a laborer at American Crystal Sugar in East Grand Forks until he had to retire due to his disability. Following the flood of 1997, Steve worked tirelessly donating his time with the Salvation Army to help those who had lost so much. Steve was an avid bicycle enthusiast in his free time, taking long day trips at times to local smaller towns. He loved animals and had a cockatiel friend, Doc, at the nursing home who rode the halls with Steve for many years. Doc visited and sang to Steve on his final day, which made Steve smile. Steve especially enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews, loved to eat his mom’s home cooking and baking with Steve never failing to express his love for her food with his famous, "MMMMMM, boy!", and occasional trips to casinos. Steve is survived by his brother Robbin (Connie); sister Lori (Bob) Jacquemart, and sister Tami (John) Hilliard; nieces Bridgette (Paul), Kayla (Gerald), Katie (Tom), Elise; nephews Bobby (Bryanna), and Matthew; great-nieces Eden, Eva, Lucy, and Opal; and great-nephew Drake, uncle James (Evie) McKenzie, aunts Sharon Field and Shirley McKenzie, many cousins, and his friend, Doc the cockatiel. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lois Field, grandparents Ole and Olina Field and Elsie and Murray McKenzie, brother-in-law Bill Lambert, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many loved pets. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Woodside Village who took care of Steve and treated him as family through his years there.
