Stephan Jon Johnson

Stephan Jon Johnson, 81, of Grand Forks died on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Valley Senior Living. 

Stephan, also known as Steve and BZ, was born on October 27, 1941, to Steve and Frances (Meier) Johnson in Crookston, MN. 

On September 16, 1961, Steve married Helen Jean Lizakowski of Minto, ND. Together Steve and Helen started a life together that lasted more than 50 years. They were blessed with three sons and one daughter. Their house was filled with memories of eventful travels, fun camping trips, hunting adventures and lots of chaos and excitement. Steve loved hunting, fishing and any new project that came his way. Steve was employed with Xcel Energy in the natural gas department until his retirement.  

Steve is survived by his sons, Ron (Denise) Johnson, Grand Forks, Duane (Barb) Johnson, Jamestown, ND, and daughter, Susanne (Bill) Straus, Grand Forks, grandchildren, Tyr Johnson, Tyler and Allyson Straus, Ryan Bubach and Bailey (Medhi) Ostadhassan and Brandi (Austin)  Gruebele; great grandchildren, Macklen, Rhett and Graham Gruebele, Elijah and Jonas Ostadhassan; sisters-in-law, Clara Wysocki, Marianne (Donny) Rudnik, and brothers-in-law, David (Karen) Lizakowski and Orville Radi.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, son, Dustan, sister, Bev Radi, and his parents.

 A loving thank you to all the staff at Valley Senior Living for their love and care that they showed our father in his time there as a resident.  

Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2023 Havig - Heen Auditorium Chapel, Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks, ND.
