Sheila Mae Johnson, 77, formerly of Williston & Grand Forks, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Center in Larimore, ND. She passed with the love of her life and husband of 54 years, James at her side.
Sheila was born May 3, 1943, in Rural Drake, ND, the daughter of Edward & Emma (Beutler) Haldi. She grew up and attended school in Drake.
Sheila married James Johnson May 28, 1966, in Minot, ND. Together they raised 2 children in Williston, and moved to Grand Forks in 2012.
She worked for a few years in Minot as a secretary, and was a wonderful homemaker for her family. When her children were older she worked at the Bible Book Store in Williston where she was able to be around books she loved, as well as share her knowledge and love of her Savior, Jesus.
Sheila enjoyed writing letters to family and friends, and she was a voracious reader. She loved reading to her grandchildren. Sheila became a big fan of tennis, and enjoyed watching her favorites on TV, as well as attending a few tournaments. She loved collecting blue birds and pictures of bluebirds, so she was easy to shop for. Sheila loved traveling and planning trips. She went on many trips with her family, always with stops at places that each family member would enjoy. Sheila loved to play games and laugh, and no one could make her laugh like her husband, James.
Sheila enjoyed sewing, and finding patterns she could make clothes for her grandchildren. She was a dog lover, and always enjoyed having a dog to pet whether it was the family dog or a dog she'd just met. She loved seafood and would eat at Red Lobster as often as she possibly could. Sheila loved finding the perfect gift for her friends and family, and she would search all year to find Christmas gifts for her family. Sheila was incredibly dedicated to her family, there was nothing that she wouldn't do to take care of them and make them happy.
More than anything else, Sheila loved the Lord. She had an incredible impact on the world for Jesus. Sheila loved attending and teaching Bible Studies, and she taught classes at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Williston for many years. She knew her Bible very well, and would always take the time to share her knowledge and faith.
She is survived by her husband, James; children, Blake (Crystal) Johnson and Jill (Kevin) Crawford, both of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Benjamin, Hannah, Ruth, Elijah, Isaiah, Esther, Caleb, Emma, Laura and Micah.
Sheila is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Joshua.
A private funeral service will be held.
