Scott A. Robson

September 9, 1963 — June 15, 2024

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Scott Andrew Robson, age 60, passed away on Saturday June 15th, 2024, at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg MB from complications following his battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Scott was born on September 9, 1963, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Grand Forks ND, to Paul F. and Margaret A (Dailey) Robson. Scott was raised in Winnipeg MB attending schools in Transcona and St. James until graduation from St. Paul’s High School in 1981. In his youth, Scott was a gifted student and athlete participating in hockey, basketball, and football. Scott attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where he was recruited to play football for the Fighting Sioux. He was a 2 year letterwinner and selected to the Academic All-Conference Team in 1985. Scott graduated with honors from UND in 1985 earning a Bachelor of Political Science. That same year, he was the 13th overall selection in the Canadian Football League draft to the Montreal Concord. Scott played 2 seasons until the club disbanded during the 1986 season.

Scott returned to the United States spending several years continuing his education and establishing himself in the insurance industry in California. Scott returned to the Midwest to be closer to family living in both Minnesota and North Dakota. While Scott did not have children of his own, his nieces and nephews were the center of his world. He followed them to every rink, diamond, court, and field possible. When not able to be present, he was watching online as he was able, or waiting anxiously for the synopsis and statistics following the game. Scott was also known to pass on a few dollars to the children for a piece of homemade artwork or if they could complete an athletic challenge.

Scott eventually returned to Winnipeg to be closer to his parents. He provided valued companionship to his father after the loss of his loving mother in 2016. Scott loved travelling to Palm Springs to be reunited with his maternal aunt Marilyn and her husband and children. Scott added so much to any gathering of family and friends by steering the conversation with unique subject matter, correcting inaccuracies, and then sitting back with his crooked smile as those around him debated. His sharp wit, abundant knowledge and unique perspective will be greatly missed.

Scott is survived by his father Paul F. Robson of Winnipeg, brothers, Craig (Michele) Robson, Burnsville MN, Curtis Robson, Winnipeg MB, Kevin (Kristi) Robson, Grand Forks ND as well as nieces and nephews Adam, Erin (Blake) Broberg, Lyndsey, Thomas, Jacob, Alexis, Karlie, and Emily Robson and grandniece Harper and grandnephew Kaleb. He is preceded in death by his mother Margaret, as well as both sets of grandparents, Dr. Walter C and Margaret Dailey of Grand Forks ND, and Norman C and Lois Robson of Winnipeg MB.

Inurnment will be held at Calvary North Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND on August 10th, 2024, at 10:30 AM. The family requests that any memorials be directed to the University of North Dakota Football Program.
