Scott J. Heyd, 47, Grand Forks, ND, died after a brief diagnosis of cancer Monday, July 23, 2018 in Grand Forks.
Scott Jeffery Heyd was born May 7, 1971 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of DuWayne and Kathryn (Stover) Heyd. He attended schools in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School. He attended UND, then began working for his father at Heyd Construction. Scott took over the general operation of the company 6 years ago.
Scott lived every day to the fullest and his generosity was unmatched. He enjoyed time a Cass Lake, MN, but he loved attending events that involved his daughter, (the light of his life) Madison. Scott wrestled for many years and was inducted into the Central High School Wrestling Hall of Fame. He was a supporter of UND hockey and football and was an avid tailgating fan at the football games. He was an excellent cook and was referred to as, “The man of many grills”.
Survivors include his daughter, Madison, Grand Forks; father, DuWayne (Rhonda) Heyd, Grand Forks; sister, Susan (Wes) Wixo, Grand Forks; brother, Steven Heyd, Memphis, TN; grandmother, Loretta Heyd; nieces and nephews, Abby, Mike, Alex and Ashley; fiancé, Greta Zimmerman; former wife, Chris Heyd and her family; and his dog and faithful companion, Maggie Mae
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Heyd.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2018 at First Lutheran Church of East Grand Forks, MN.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday (today), July 26, 2018 with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the funeral service in the church.
