Sarah L. Hurst

December 28, 1970 — December 25, 2024

Grand Forks

Sarah Lynn Hurst, born December 28, 1970, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away on Christmas morning, December 25, 2024, just days shy of her 54th birthday.

Sarah was the beloved daughter of Terry and Susan Hurst (Restad) and cherished sister to Angie Borini (Hurst) and Maggie Hurst. She was a devoted aunt to Haley (David) Lundgren and Amirah Hurst; and a proud great-aunt to Thea Faye Lundgren. Sarah is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Amos and Esmer Restad, Betty and Tony Hornstein; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved fur baby, Phoebe.

Sarah’s life was defined by her fearless spirit and unwavering determination. As the quintessential middle child, she was goofy, headstrong, and unapologetically herself. She loved fiercely and championed the underdog with unmatched loyalty and compassion.

Sarah dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked for many years in nursing homes before pursuing her passion further by becoming a nurse. She found immense joy in serving others and was happiest when helping those in need.

In 2013, while working as a travel nurse, Sarah suffered a debilitating stroke. Despite the immense challenges she faced, she overcame them—proving her indomitable spirit time and again. In the years following her stroke, Sarah deepened her faith in God, which became a source of strength and comfort throughout her journey.

Sarah’s family will hold a private service in her honor. If you would like to send the family memorials or flowers please contact Amundson Funeral Home.  While the family has requested this be a closed intimate service, a celebration of life for her many friends and loved ones will be announced at a later date.

To know Sarah was to love her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in her remarkable life.
