Samuel J. Nelson-Murphy, age 36 of Grand Forks, died Monday, July 9, 2018 on arrival at Altru Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in the Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Samuel J. Nelson-Murphy, a son of Floyd Murphy and Kimberly Nelson, was born on March 18, 1982 at Boise, ID weighing in at 12 pounds 1 ounce. At a young age he moved with his family to East Grand Forks, MN. Sam was reared and educated in East Grand Forks completing his last year education at Grand Forks Central high school.  After his education he began working at various jobs in the area. Later Sam started his career in construction. He worked for several construction companies specializing in masonry. He enjoyed drawing, listing to music, spending time with his children and friends. Sam loved to go around town picking through other people’s collectables. He was a very kind person. that Sam will be in our hearts and thoughts forever and will be greatly missed by everyone He is survived by his children, Samuel James Nelson Jr., and Sheyenne Ray Nelson both of Grand Forks; Mother Kimberly Nelson-DesJarlais and his step-father, Vernon DesJarlais of Grand Forks; father, Floyd Murphy; sisters, Danielle DesJarlais, Roxanne DesJariais, Kimberly Collins and Natasha Murphy ; brothers, Jay Murphy, Benjamin Murphy and AJ Murphy; nieces, Brianna, Joanna, Ava, Shayla and Savannah; nephews, Damien and Rolando Jr.; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Sam was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister Phyllis Murphy
