Samuel Jacob Cooper

Samuel J. Cooper, 73 of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Friday, July 28, 2023, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Private family services will be held. Interment will take place at Fargo National Cemetery.

Samuel was born on January 3,1950 the son of Willie and Amanda (White) Cooper in Johnsonville, South Carolina. He received his education in Johnsonville and finished in New Jersey. Sam enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in numerous countries and states. He was a dental assistant in the Air Force and retired in Grand Forks after twenty plus in the Air Force. Sam met Linda Sawatzky in 2004 and have been loving companions ever since. He worked at American Woods, Cirrus Aircraft and LM Wind Power, retiring in 2020.

Sam was an avid fan of NASCAR and the NFL and listening to Motown music.

Sam is survived by his children, Natalie Cooper, Maurice (Christina) Cooper, Sabrina Sawatzky and Justin Sawatzky; loving companion, Linda Sawatzky; four grandchildren, Austin, Teisha, Tashaun and Neviah; brothers, David (Sharon) Cooper and James Cooper; sisters, Evelyn Walker and Sally Mathis; numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin brother, Isiah Esau Cooper, brothers, Norman and Robert Lee Cooper.
