Russell “Rusty” Manford Nesheim, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6th, 2020 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Russell was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota on April 26, 1947 to Manford and Arlene (Aaker) Nesheim. He grew up in the Grand Forks area, then lived on the family farm in Arvilla, North Dakota. Russell farmed with his father throughout his youth. He was an only child, but was very close with his cousin, Lanny Aaker, who was like a brother to him.
Russell married the love of his life, Carol Marie Delaney in June of 1974. They were blessed with two children, Lisa and Scott. They made their home in Larimore, North Dakota for 38 years until Carol passed away in November 2012. He started his own independent trucking company in 1978, later retiring in 2013.
Russell had a great love for his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his four grandchildren, Ashly, Helena, Mason and Jacob.
Russell is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Philip) Escarraz and his son, Scott (Brandy) Nesheim, all of Grand Forks; grandchildren, Ashly Escarraz, Helena, Mason and Jacob Nesheim; sisters-in-law, Donna (Tom) Alt of Wayzata, MN, Jan (Terry) Hecox of Prescott, AZ; and cousins, Lanny (Lori) Aaker and Conni Jo Aaker (Harold) Wolfe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carol.
A private service was held at Amundson’s Funeral Home.
