RUDOLPH (RUDY) MORRIS BERG
A kind soul passed away peacefully as friends watched over him in his home Friday, November 26, 2021. Rudolph (Rudy) Morris Berg, 94, son of John Berg and Ragna (Hanson) Berg was born and raised in Grand Forks.
As a World War II veteran, Rudy attended basic training in San Antonio, TX, and was subsequently stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the period troops were coming home. He worked in the supply offices there. Upon returning home to Grand Forks, he attended the United College of Business and went on from there to work as Chief Accountant Clerk for Northern States Power (now Xcel Energy). He retired after 31 years of service there.
Rudy loved nature and animals. He enjoyed many years of golfing and fishing. Later in life he enjoyed sitting outside visiting with his neighbors and paying attention to their pets. He fed the birds, rabbits and squirrels and enjoyed listening to the birds. He had both cats and dogs as pets in his home throughout his lifetime. He was a strong advocate for the national and local humane society and looked forward to the Westminster Kennel Dog Show each year.
Rudy also had a love for Lawrence Welk and enjoyed watching it on Sunday nights. He listened to a wide variety of music but old time Country Western was his favorite.
Rudy is survived by his cousin, Doris May Pollock of Seattle, Washington and close friends, Lefty & LoRia Novak. Throughout the years, Rudy appreciated the help of his many caregivers. He treasured Margaret Fleming’s skills, thoughtful ways and willingness to go above and beyond. He was preceded in death by his parents, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside ceremony will be held at Memorial Park North Cemetery, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Circle of Friends Humane Society here in Grand Forks.
