ROMANZO E. DUNCKLEE
On July 19th, 2020, Romanzo Edwin Duncklee passed away at his home on the farm in Emerado, ND, surrounded by his family. He was 95 at the time of passing. Romanzo was born December 9th, 1924, to Ernest Carr and Vera Robbins Duncklee in Bowesmont, ND, one of eight children. He graduated from Hallock High School in 1943.
In WWII, he served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He returned home in 1946 and attended UND in Grand Forks, ND, where he met the love of his life, Evelyn Haarstad.
Romanzo and Evelyn were married on September 6th, 1947. Romanzo had many talents that he applied to various jobs, such as baker, pipeline worker, and furniture salesman, before he found his lifetime career as a farmer in 1950. Romanzo and Evelyn farmed east of Emerado for almost 40 years, where they raised their six children. It was a busy place! Besides raising their six children, their home was always open to others who came to stay for various periods of time.
Romanzo was a member of the Gideons, and faithfully brought his family to Bethel Lutheran Church. He always gave God the glory in all he did. In fact, that was his motto: “To God Be the Glory”.
His love for his wife, Evelyn, always remained strong and never diminished. Even after 72 1/2 years of marriage, he could still be seen acting like a school boy in love!
Romanzo is survived by his wife Evelyn; his sister Rita Ingersoll: his sons Dan (Terri), Romanzo, Jr (Mikki), and Virgil; his daughters Christi (Craig) Baughman, June (Jim) VanValkenburg, and Rachel (David) Guerrero; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.
Romanzo was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons, and to Bethel Lutheran Church.
