Roger Parkinson was greeted in Heaven by our Lord and Savior on December 26, 2024. Born on March 6, 1944, to Leonard and Alvina Parkinson, Roger grew up in rural Kenmare, North Dakota, alongside his twin brother Rick, his beloved sister Barbara, and his younger brother Dennis.

Roger met the love of his life, Lois Brekhus, and they were married on June 12, 1966. Together, they devotedly raised three children: Cary, Chadwick, and Caela. After graduating from Kenmare High School, Roger worked in various management positions in grocery stores in Kenmare, Minot, Moorhead, and Fargo. In the early 1990s, Roger transitioned to a rewarding career in financial planning and insurance sales, where he worked diligently until his retirement.

Roger was an active and dedicated member of Zion United Methodist Church, participating in leadership activities locally and at the regional level with the Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church. He cherished his role as a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. Roger attended countless soccer games, piano recitals, baseball and softball games, hockey games, figure skating shows, concerts, and more, always there to cheer on his children and grandchildren. He shared his love for golf and outdoor activities with his boys Cary and Chadwick, Paul, Adam, and Zakary. Roger loved spending time with his girls Lois, Caela, Michelle, Ali, Ava, Eden, and Saige. Faith and family were always a priority. It was never a surprise to see Roger with a cup of coffee in one hand and a phone in the other. He enjoyed daily and weekly calls with his siblings and cousins throughout the years.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Brekhus); sons Cary (Michelle) and Chadwick (Ali); daughter Caela (Paul) Slaathaug; grandchildren Adam, Ava, Eden, Zakary, and Saige; his twin brother Rick (Joy); brother-in-law Jerry (Betty) Brekhus; sister-in-law Judy Brekhus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Alvina Parkinson; his sister Barbara (Pumarlo) and her husband Ronald Pumarlo; his brother Dennis; and his brother-in-law, Roger Brekhus.

Roger's legacy of love, dedication to family, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
