Roger A. Lee, 70, of Grand Forks, ND died December 19, 2018 in Grand Forks.
Roger Lee was born May 11, 1948 in Grand Forks, ND to Myrtis and Kenneth Lee. Roger enjoyed growing up in Grand Forks with his older brothers, Harland and Richard, and his sister, Shirley. He attended Sunday School and was confirmed at the United Lutheran Church. Later, he graduated from Central High School.
Roger began working for the City of Grand Forks on November 1, 1971. This would become his life’s work as he performed in a variety of roles for the Street Department, receiving an award of appreciation for 35 years of service. Upon his retirement on May 11, 2010 he received a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor.
Roger was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a care giver to his mother for a number of years. He enjoyed seeing family and frequently hosted friends at his yard, patio, and garage. He was also dedicated to raising and caring for his cats; first Snoopy and later, Tinker.
His hobbies and leisure activities included bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening and watching football, NASCAR, hockey and other sports. He was well known for the pickles he made, canning cucumbers he grew in the garden. He also had many fans of his grilling and the beef jerky he made.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Webster (Colorado Springs); sister-in-law, Mary Lee (Minneapolis); brother-in-law, Tim Webster (Colorado Springs); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Saturday, May 11 at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM followed with the service at 2:00PM. Interment will follow at Memorial Park South in Grand Forks.
Roger was a great brother, uncle and friend. He will truly be missed.
