Robert “Bob” Eichhorst, 78, Thompson, North Dakota, died Monday, October 3, 2022, at Northwood Deaconess Hospital, Northwood, North Dakota.
Bob was born November 15, 1943, the son of Elroy and Olga (Rosholt) Eichhorst in Grand Forks at Deaconess Hospital. He grew up in Thompson, ND, graduating from Thompson High School in 1961. He then went to Aaker’s Business College where he earned his associate degree. He worked for Implement Dealers Insurance Company/American West Insurance while also working on the family farm. Bob joined the North Dakota National Guard becoming a Captain and serving until 1975.
He helped operate the family farm Q & E Farms with his brother-in-law Vaughn Quern aka “Big Blue and the Field Mouse” until the late 90’s. Bob then worked for his cousin Tim Bohlman driving Semi truck for a few years.
On July 1, 1972, Bob married Sharon Jerik in Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks. They made their life together living in Grand Forks, and on the family farm celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2022.
Bob liked to fish, go camping, deer hunt, reading and watching the History Channel’s Ice Road Truckers and Gold Rush. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a love for taking care of stray cats.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon, children: Tammy (Ryan) Uhing, their children: Madison, Jocelynn, Charlie; Jason (Andrea) Eichhorst, their children: Reilyn, Cash; Scott Eichhorst, sister Linda (Vaughn) Quern, their children: Steve, Cindy, Michael.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn, aunts Ella Kuberra, Blenda Egge, Esther Eichhorst, uncles: Edward, Ervie, Ernie, Bill Eichhorst; Sidney Rosholt, and Melvin Rosholt.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
