Richard (Rick) K. Vincelette, Jr
Feb 18, 1962 – Apr 4, 2020
Rick was born in Germany in a US Army Hospital and traveled with his family until settling in West Townsend, Vermont. He graduated high school in 1979 and joined the US Air Force in 1980. He met and married his wife of 37 years, in Minot, North Dakota where they began their adventure.
Rick was a fun-loving, laid-back guy that didn’t like to take things too seriously. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Especially kids, because he was the biggest kid of all. Kids know him as Grampy, and he called them all “George” or “Georgette”.
He was a jack of all trades with a vast knowledge of many backgrounds. Just like a child, if he got bored or unchallenged, he would try something new. He was a mason tender, mechanic, stay at home dad (before it was cool), carpenter, farm hand, welder, semi driver and government contractor.
Rick liked the simple life and wanted little but was generous with whatever he did have. He was a quirky collector and loved finding odd musical instruments for the grandkids to play. He found the most happiness in family gatherings and instigating “bad behavior”.
He was very proud of his kids and grandkids. Rick is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his children and grandchildren; daughter, Tara (Eric), Gabriel, Jonathan; son, Cory (Kelly), Brenden, Hannah, Jackson and daughter, Eryn (Matt), Dallas, Lane and Brigyda.
He is also survived by his parents, Martha and Richard Sr.; his sister, Monica (Kevin); brothers, Donald (Melissa) and Mitchell along with numerous nieces and nephews.
There are no services scheduled at this time. Because of Rick’s love of children, in lieu of flowers please donate to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shiner’s Hospital for Children.
