Rev. Harold Vold, 96, Hatton, formerly of Grand Forks, ND died peacefully Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Sanford Medical Center in Mayville, North Dakota. He has resided at Hatton Prairie Village since 2019.
Harold Oswald Vold was born in Watertown, SD to John & Bernice (Hogstad) Vold on February 22, 1928. He grew up in Clark, SD where his father was a Lutheran Pastor. Baptized and confirmed in Clark, he graduated from Clark High School in 1946. Harold then served two years in the U.S. Army, being stationed in the Philippines for 18 months. After an honorable discharge, Harold attended Concordia College, where he met Eunice Fagerholt and graduated with an English degree in 1952. Harold went on to attend Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Eunice and Harold were married in Hoople, ND on July 19, 1953.
A move to Keene, ND started their parish ministry. They developed friendships of deep faith in all the communities they served. Those communities of faith after Keene included serving as Pastor in Ellendale/Edgeley, Grand Forks (Sharon Lutheran), Milnor, and Jamestown (St. John’s), all in North Dakota.
Upon retirement, Harold & Eunice settled in Grand Forks in the little yellow house on 22nd Avenue South that hosted many, many meals for friends and family. Together they were active in numerous organizations including United Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, and Meals on Wheels. Harold was also active in the South Forks Lions Club. He won the Melvin Jones Award for the Lions Club, and together Eunice & Harold received the GF Sertoma Service to Mankind District Award. Harold was a loving and caring person who would do anything for anyone. In life, Harold loved to travel, loved to go on walks, loved to read, and loved to tell stories. Most of all, he loved God.
