Renee Louise Amundson, age 68, of Northwood, ND, passed away on January 4, 2025, after a relentless and courageous battle against cancer. She fought with incredible strength, determination, and courage against breast cancer, twice, and brain cancer which finally took her from us. 

Renee was born on July 3, 1956, in Grand Forks, ND, to Philip and Esther (Wimer) Olson. She grew up and attended school in Thompson, ND. 

She had three children with her first husband who settled in Northwood, ND. This is where she continued to live and raised her children on her own. She worked as a cook in the local restaurant until starting in the Environmental Services department at Altru where she worked for 24 years until she retired.

On July 3, 1999, Renee was happily remarried to Keith Amundson and together they shared over twenty-five wonderful years of marriage.

Renee was a kind and loving person who found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for baking, especially cookies, and was well-known for her delicious lefsa, a cherished tradition she passed down to those she loved. Renee also enjoyed being at the lake, doing puzzles, spending time gardening, cultivating beautiful flowers and plants, and her creativity extended to crafting.

Above all, Renee cherished her time with family. Whether gathered around the dinner table or in quiet moments at home, she created lasting bonds through her warmth, kindness, and cookies. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Renee is survived by her devoted husband, Keith; son, Jared Berthold of Hope, ND; daughter Christine (Christopher) Thomasson of Fargo, ND; daughter, Amy Berthold of Fargo, ND; Katrina Amundson of Fargo, ND; sisters, LuWanna Hinden, Phylis Matejcek, Jolien (Timothy) Carr; brothers, Rodney (Linda) Olson, Laramie (Doni-Erin) Olson; grandchildren, Trenton Thomasson, Emma Thomasson, Davian Forde and Grace Berthold; several cousins; and abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Renee was preceded in death by her brother, Corry Olson; nephew, Tyler Carr and her parents.

 Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Amundson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Amundson Funeral Home. Please check back for full obituary.
