Raymond H. “Ray” Steffen, 92, Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks.

Raymond Henry Steffen was born at Blanchard, ND on December 14, 1931. Raymond served in the US Army National Guard, first in Korea and then in the US in civil service. He retired December 14, 1991. He participated in the Honor Flight in May, 2018.

Raymond married Georgia Hendricks on March 18, 1960 at Hillsboro. She died on February 4, 1992. Raymond married Sharon Ruhnke on April 22, 1995 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Raymond was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed oil painting, especially of birds. 

Raymond is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Susan Kost, and Michael Steffen (Kim); 4 granddaughters, Jordyn Ann Volk (Ben), Hadley Jo Plank (Matt), Kaitlyn Ann Kost, and Maggie Rose Steffen, 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Marjorie Riemer, Elaine Steffen, Willard Steffen, Robert Steffen (Sue); step-children, Russ Ruhnke (Josette), Bobbie Coons (Tim), and Debbie Lewis (George); 4 step grandchildren, Crystal Kelzer (Andrew), Kelly Dunham (Jeff), Max Ruhnke, Paige Ruhnke, and 7 step-great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia; brothers, Walter and Elroy; son-in-law, Terry.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to the ND/MN Honor Flight.
