January 7, 1937 — March 31, 2022

Raymond "Ray" I. Johnson, 85, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away March 31, 2022, at Valley Senior Living on 42nd Woodside Village in Grand Forks.

Raymond Isaac Johnson, son of Allen R and Addie Ann (Eller) Johnson was born January 7, 1937 in Tipton, Indiana and died peacefully March 31, 2022 at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks.

Ray’s family farmed in Indiana, and then in Wisconsin where they moved when he was thirteen. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1955, and attended the University of Wisconsin where he met his life-long love, Margaret Dunn. He entered the US Air Force in 1956, and Ray and Marge were married in Presque Isle, Maine in 1957.

His work with International Harvester Company saw their family travel from St. Paul to Billings and then to Grand Forks in 1966. When their children completed school and started families of their own, Ray and Marge relocated to Roosevelt, Minnesota where he was employed by Marvin Window Company and drove school bus for local districts.

Raymond leaves to cherish his memory sons James (Dawn) of Grand Forks and Michael (Candi) of Salol, Minnesota, daughter Ann (Larry) Morey of Hamilton, Ohio, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his oldest sibling Hubert of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, his parents, sisters Martha Strunk and Marilyn Anderson, brothers James and William Lee, and grandson Jeffrey Johnson.

Ray elected to donate his body to the University of North Dakota Medical School, and requested no services be held.
