Raymond “Ray” Holweger, 79 of Grand Forks, North Dakota passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in his home surrounded by family.
Raymond Joseph Holweger was born on May 7, 1939 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to John and Barbara (Deitz) Holweger; he was a lifelong resident of Grand Forks. Ray married Marjorie Markwardt on October 14th, 1966 in Crookston, Minnesota. He worked various jobs driving semi until he became an employee of McKinnon Company in 1968 where he remained until his retirement; after retiring, Ray spent several summers driving for S&S Transport.
Ray enjoyed camping, puttering around in his garage, and telling tall tales with a PBR in his hand. In his later years, Ray could be found at the Roadhouse Cafe most mornings enjoying the #1 breakfast.
Ray is survived by Marge, his beloved wife of 52 years; a brother Harold “Shorty” (Linda) Holweger; daughters Colleen (Thomas) Bradford, Sharon (Michael) Bray, September (Ted) Woolever, and Shannon (Tony) Obregon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth Holweger; sisters, Agnes Jacobson, Margaret Eisner, Frances Corbett, and Doris Smilden; an infant son and two grandsons.
