On October 19th, 2022 our beloved Papa walked into the arms of Jesus at the age of 94. The family of Raymond Gordon lovingly joins together to celebrate a life well-lived on Saturday, October 29th at United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St, Grand Forks with a 10:00 a.m. visitation; 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service with lunch to follow in the lower level. We know he would say to us, ”Don’t be sad that I am gone, be happy that I lived!”
Ray was a true entrepreneur in every sense of the word, either creating or operating several businesses and restaurants such as the Mexican Village in Grand Forks.
His presence and quick wit will be terribly missed by his beloved wife (Mae) of 74 years, 4 children Jana (Jerry) Kyser, Paula (David) Escher, David (Amy) Gordon, Dan (Vicki) Gordon, 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Our spirits are lifted by the outpouring of stories shared by family, friends and acquaintances.
He modeled leadership through true dedication while volunteering at church, school and community. He humbly received the Lamb Award, (the highest honor awarded in Boy Scout leadership.)
He also bridged the generation gap, especially on the racquetball court achieving National and World Championship Titles.
He enlisted in the Army at age 17 and served during World War II in Italy.
Because he was a life-long member of United Lutheran we request that any memorial offered be given to the church.
