Randy S. Aho

March 19, 1956 — March 11, 2024

Randy Scott Aho - dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin - passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, in Grand Forks, ND.

Randy was born to August “Robert” Aho and Joyce (Ellis) Aho in Stanley, ND on March 19, 1956. His childhood homes included Stanley, ND, Tioga, ND, and Livingston, MT.

Randy met and married Judy (Nelson) Aho in 1976 while working in Tioga, ND. Together they had four boys: Brandon, Brent, Eric, and John-William Aho. While their marriage did not last, they continued to raise their boys together. Randy met his wife, Georgia (Tanke) Aho, and they married on September 25, 1996, in Warren, MN. Randy and Georgia moved to Crookston, MN in 1999, where he began his 20-year career working for the New Flyer bus company.

In his younger years, Randy was a OTR truck operator finding steady work in the oil boom of the 1970s. As a truck driver, he also worked on the Garrison Diversion Project.

While living in Stanley in the late 1970s and mid-80s, Randy’s life-long love of baking was inspired at the Aho Family Bakery. The bakery was owned and operated by the Aho Family and had locations in Stanley and Tioga, ND until the mid-1980s.

After a short stint of living and working in Arizona in the late 1980s – early 1990s, Randy completed his degree in Culinary Arts at Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN.

Randy was a true man-of-all trades. He never met a building project, mechanical issue, or garden that he couldn’t conquer. He spent his years working with his hands and sharing his technical, mechanical and construction knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He loved to build furniture and tinkering on projects in his garage.

Being a grandpa came naturally to Randy. His grandkids loved fishing, watching car races, and learning how to build things with him over the years. He deeply enjoyed sharing his baked goods and cooking old family recipes for his family.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Todd, Timothy and Robert “Bobby” Aho.

Randy is survived by his wife, Georgia; his children Brandon (Kelly) Aho, Brent (Tiffany) Aho, Eric (Brittney) Aho, and Jon-William Aho; his step-children: Dane Molde and Dean (Kris) Molde; grandchildren: Tristan Aho, Gavin (Gabby) Aho, Zachary Bachmeier, Noah Aho, Lunden Bachmeier, Allie Marquart, Ryker Aho; his step-grandson: Colton Agotness; his sister Barbara (Aho) Adkison; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Randy lost his battle against lung cancer. His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Altru Hospital, in Grand Forks, ND and Riverview Hospital, in Crookston, MN.

In his memory, we ask that you share a glazed doughnut and cup of coffee with someone you love.

His friends and family are invited to share happy memories in celebration of Randy’s life.
