Rae Ann Larson

October 24, 1938 — September 21, 2021

Rae Ann Larson, 82, passed away peacefully September 21,2021 with family by her side.

She was born on October 24, 1938 to Raymond and Evelyn RInn in Denver, Co. She was the middle sister to two older brothers and two younger sisters. Rae Ann attended the University of North Dakota where she met her future husband on a blinddate. She and Dennis (Bing) Larson were married July 21, 1957 in Minot, ND. The couple found their lifelong home in Grand Forks.

After returning to UND when her youngest was in kindergarten, Rae Ann received her teaching degree. Rae Ann was a dedicated educator for thirty years, teaching special needs children in East Grand Forks, MN. She and Bing were also very involved in Jaycees in their younger years.

Rae Ann and Bing loved to travel. They both enjoyed early retirement and traveled to every state (mostly by van) and many countries, keeping journals and diaries of their journeys, She was very adventurous once riding in a hot air balloon in the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and another time “temporarily” flying a single engine plane in Florida. When she was not travelling, she was involved with the Grand Forks County Historical Society, making crafts, attending church and church functions, delivering Home Delivered Meals, and attending sports functions at UND.

Rae Ann loved being a grandmother. She was often making halloween costumes, baking, and giving lefse making lessons to her grandchildren, leaving many lasting memories. She also loved spending time with her rescued Springer spaniel, Lena, which she shared with good friend, Virg Foss.

Rae Ann is survived by her four children; Jeff (Dorene) Larson of Hudson, WI, Julie (Paco) Burrell of La Crosse, WI, Jay (Karen) Larson of Pensacola, Fl, Jodi Larson of La Crosse, WI. Thirteen Grandchildren: Erik (Kaela) Larson, Nick (Chelsea) Larson, Zach (Tamara Dearing) Burrell, Ian Burrell, Alex (Kyle) Viner, Andrew (Savannah Allds) Bjornstad, Anna (Levi Ballard) Bjornstad, John Bjornstad, Olivia Larson, Emma Larson, Lars Larson, Kate Larson, Mabel Larson. Additionally she is survived by six great grandchildren; James, Louis, Sai, Graham,
Afton and Milo. Along with brother, David Rinn (Pat), and sisters, Linda Casady (Gary), and Katie Parker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bing, by her parents and her brother, Douglas Rinn (Mary).
Her family wishes to send a special thank you to the caregivers in the Hearthstone neighborhood at Valley Senior Living and Ethos Hospice for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, RaeAnn was supportive of the D.R. Bing Larson Men’s Basketball Scholarship Endowment at the University of North Dakota (UND).
