Penny J. Rogers, age 71, of Crookston, Minnesota, died Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Penny Janel Bucholz was born April 5, 1953, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Harley and Jeanette (Blaine) Bucholz. She grew up in Grand Forks and attended school at Central High School; she later furthered her education at the University of North Dakota where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Penny worked as a Licensed Social Worker and worked in manufacturing at various places. In 1970, Penny was united in marriage to Terry Rogers; they later divorced.
Penny took great pride in being a mother and grandmother, finding immense joy in family gatherings that brought light to her life. She eagerly anticipated visiting her loved ones and cherished trips to Fargo to spend time with her grandson. Penny was so very proud of her grandson and loved him more than anything else, she would smile from ear to ear absolutely glowing when listening to him play guitar and sing. Penny loved all animals but had a special bond with her daughter’s dogs, always offering to care for them. Her family meant the world to her, and she treasured them deeply. She was always the first to remind everyone of upcoming birthdays and took great joy in planning holidays, especially the treasured tradition of making lefse together. Those moments, filled with Penny’s infectious laughter, will be remembered and missed the most.
Penny is survived by her daughter, Traci Rogers of Grand Forks, North Dakota; grandson, Tristan Rogers of Fargo, ND; sisters, Paulette Aaker, Pamela (Kevin Bonham) Aaker, and Pixie (Jack) Sites. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Jeanette.
