Peggy Hillebrand, 69, Grand Forks, died Friday, August 23, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born August 28, 1949, in Grand Forks, the daughter of Bennie and Gloria (Julson) Spoor. She grew up in Grand Forks. Peggy’s family moved to Reseda, California where she graduated high school in 1967. She attended Junior College in Laurel Canyon, CA before moving back to Grand Forks.
On July 10, 1976, Peggy married Dave Hillebrand. Together, they made their home in Grand Forks. In 1983, she started working for Grand Forks County as a social worker where she would help many people. While working full time and raising a family, Peggy proudly graduated from The University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 1999. She served on the 3rd St Clinic board for a number of years as well. After 28 years working for the county, Peggy retired as an eligibility supervisor.
Her grandchildren were her life. She loved to color pictures with them, attend their activities, and surround them with her love. She also liked to wash clothes and iron where she found great joy in the process. Peggy would often volunteer at Calvary Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband Dave, children: Heidi Hillebrand, Casey (Amy) Hillebrand, step-daughter Nikki Hill; grandchildren: Izaiah, Harvey, Harlynn, Luella; step granddaughters: Becca Hill, Shylo Hill, step great grandson: Mason Hill, siblings: Nancy (Bob) Stroh, Kathy Spoor, brothers-in-law: Dana (Debbi) Hillebrand, Dan (Tammy) Hillebrand, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step father Harold Pich, sisters: Sueann Spoor, Patty Magnus, and her mother and father in law Donna and Russell Hillebrand.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
