Paul R. Gilberg, 63, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away in his home on September 9, 2024.

Paul Roger Gilberg was born July 22, 1961, in Grand Forks, to Nels and Carol (Cowan) Gilberg. He grew up in Grand Forks, graduating from Red River High School in 1979. As a senior, Paul was elected to serve as President of his class.

 In 1984, upon graduation from UND with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, he moved to Washington, DC, to work for a consulting firm.Following the flood of 1997, Paul returned to Grand Forks. He spent 16 years in various capacities at the Grand Forks Ramada Inn. 

Paul spent three years living in Henderson, Nevada before moving back to Grand Forks in 2018. His final years of employment were spent at Altru Health Systems, retiring in 2023.

Paul had a contagious laugh, strong (and vocal) opinions and beliefs, and passion for the things that he loved: food, dogs, traveling, and a good Netflix series. He enjoyed UND Hockey, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Lions, and professional golf. He welcomed lively debate and held a considerable sense of pride when asserting his political opinions.

Paul was grateful for the time he was able to spend with his parents before their passing. He took pride in the accomplishments of his nieces and nephews. Paul loved to poke fun. He was quick-witted and loved to make people smile. He thought humor was nature’s best medicine, and believed that sometimes in life, you just have to laugh.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, eldest brother, Tom, and dear friend, Taylor. He is survived by his brothers: Ron (Lee Ann), Mike (Pam), Curtis (Debbie), Neal (Trina); his nieces and nephews & their families, and many lifelong friends.

May he rest in peace; he will be missed.

Memorial Services will be 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
