Paul L. Cox, 79, Grand Forks, ND, died Sunday, February 9, 2020 in Banner Baywood Medical Center, Mesa, Arizona.
Paul (Teddy) was born July 5, 1940 in Langdon, ND, the son of Joseph Cox and Laura Melhus Cox and the youngest of seventeen children. He grew up near Mountain, ND and graduated from Mountain High School and Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks, ND. Paul married Bonnie Larson on August 18, 1973 and they had two children, Amy and Ryan. His last years were spent with his longtime companion Suellen Palya.
He worked at and owned Grand Forks Welding and Machine Company for over forty years. Paul enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending winters in Mesa, AZ where they made their second home. A survivor of Polio as a child, Paul will be remembered for his resilience and determination, his love and dedication to his family, his dry wit and his love of lutefisk. Those left to cherish Paul’s memory are; daughter Amy (Todd) Weber; son Ryan (Sara) Cox, grandchildren Kevin and Courtney Weber and Leo and Muriel Cox; significant other, Suellen Palya and her family; brother Ben Cox; brother in law Wayne (Karen Krause) Larson and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Paul in death were his parents, his wife Bonnie and fifteen siblings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service Friday, February 21, 2020 at Amundson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 22, 2020 at University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. Burial is at Memorial Park North Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND.
