Patrick "Pat" White, age 58, resident of Grand Forks, passed away on September 22, 2024 at his residence.
Patrick “Pat” White passed away on September 22, 2024, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Patrick Charles White was born on March 23, 1966, in Neillsville, Wisconsin to Charles and Judy Rose (Schweitzer) White. Pat’s schooling began in Alma Center, where he completed his education at Lincoln High School, graduating with the Class of 1984. He moved to Grand Forks to attend the University of North Dakota, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree that laid the groundwork for a life dedicated to both his career and his hobbies.
While at UND, Pat took a part-time job at the Ski and Bike Shop, igniting a deep love for cycling that would span four decades. This passion not only became his career as he eventually took over the business, but also endeared him to the residents of Grand Forks, where he became a pillar of the cycling community. His dedication to biking was evident in his participation in numerous bike races over the years, including northern Minnesota’s grueling Arrowhead 135 held in the late winter. His enthusiasm for biking was only rivaled by his affection for music, as he showcased his talents through singing and playing multiple instruments, including piano and guitar.
Pat married Erica Franklin, on August 15, 2003, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Together, they created a warm and loving family, including Pat’s son Ciaran, and later welcomed their daughter, Ellery.
He is survived by his wife, Erica White; children, Ciaran of Ketchikan, AK, and Ellery; parents, Judy Rose and Charles White of Marietta, GA; sister, Kathleen (Brian) Corrao of Marietta, GA; and niece and nephew, Maria and Christopher Corrao, also from Marietta, GA. Pat was preceded in death by his sister Colleen Rose White.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Pat was not only a skilled cyclist and musician, but an espresso enthusiast, which would bring him joy each day. His kindness and compassion will be dearly missed, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we remember Pat, may we carry forward his love for cycling and the warmth he brought to our lives.
